CageSport MMA hires Heather Standing as matchmaker

Brian Halquist Productions announced today that the company has hired Heather Standing as its matchmaker for CageSport MMA.

“We are extremely excited and very fortunate to have Heather join our team,” promoter Brian Halquist said. “CageSport fans and fighters will benefit greatly from her wealth of knowledge and experience.”

Standing’s first card with Brian Halquist Productions will occur at CageSport’s 2020 season debut with CageSport 60 at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Wash. on Feb. 22.

“It was an honor to say the least even being considered for the position with CageSport. Not only is the promotional name widely respected in the Pacific Northwest as a home base for professional competitors looking to build a future, but Brian Halquist himself carries a name that means something in our sport,” Standing said. “I’m excited to become a part of the team and see how my talent in the sport can embellish upon an already impressive history at the Emerald Queen Casino and beyond.”

Additional 2020 CageSport dates at the Emerald Queen Casino will be held on April 25, July 11, September 26 and December 12.

In addition to the five shows at the Emerald Queen Casino, Brian Halquist Productions will be returning to Seven Feathers Casino Resort in Canyonville, Ore. on May 9 for CageSport 62.

Standing has served as the matchmaker for Submission Underground (SUG) since July of 2016. Based in Portland, Ore., SUG is a submission grappling event presented by former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen.

“I have worked hard over the last decade to be a resource for those starting from debut status to those in the pro ranks,” Standing said. “Securing the position as matchmaker for CageSport trusts that I can truly help more fighters see their dreams through and provide top quality fights for the fans in the seats.”

Standing started her career in MMA as a promoter in the Portland-based Split Decision Entertainment in 2010.
She followed up that position by doing graphic design for Full Nelson Promotions and served as a judge and assistant matchmaker for Rage at the Reef – a promotion located in Ferndale, Wash.

For two years Standing was the promoter and Matchmaker for FAMMA/Fisticuffs, working for the Southwest Washington MMA promoter from September 2012 until August 2014. In this position she was responsible for marketing, event coordination, travel coordination, purchasing and amateur fight matchmaking, among other duties.

Additional positions included promoter/event coordination and pro/amateur matchmaker for Prime Fighting League, marketing/social media coordinator for 503 West Coast Jiu Jitsu, director of operations for Unified Combat League and matchmaker for FCFF – Full Contact Fighting Federation.

She was also the Oregon matchmaker for King of the Cage events held in 2015.

Currently, she is the commentator for Budo Fights and FCFF, providing color commentary for live events for both promotions for the last nine years, and a media correspondent for MMA Madhouse, reporting on live events in Oregon and Southwest Washington for the past eight years.

“I truly believe that the Pacific Northwest is where some of, if not the best in MMA talent, has originated from and continues to do so,” Standing said. “Many worldwide famous names have come from Oregon and Washington state. Our wrestling programs, MMA schools and jiu jitsu academies are top notch across the area and I’m glad we get a chance to showcase the hard work of our competitors for the fans.”
